The Responsibilities and Roles Team building
What is this activity?
The Responsibilities and Roles activity is a team-building exercise that aims to map out the responsibilities among the team roles. This activity is going to help your team to identify and define their roles and responsibilities. Plus, it will help them to avoid future conflicts due to unclear responsibilities or expectations. There's no limit on the size of the group that can participate in this exercise. And you'll need a virtual board tool like EasyRetro to run this activity.

How to conduct this activity
This template contains 4 columns. But you can add more columns to it. Here’s how to run this activity: 1 – Responsibilities: In this column, you and your team can create a list of all possible responsibilities. Here are some examples: Integrate software, Design a Product Backlog Item, Attend Sprint Retrospective, Talk to Users, Build a Product Backlog Item, Resolve Technical impediments, Attend Daily Scrum, Coach team members. 2 – Role 1, 2, 3, 4: These next columns should be named with the team members’ roles (for example SM, PO, Dev team). With EasyRetro, you can easily add more columns and modify the column’s name. 3 – Ask your team to choose one item from the Responsibilities column and move it under a role column, indicating the role has such responsibility. If some roles have the same responsibility, you can add more cards. 4 – Now it’s time to have a group conversation about the roles and responsibilities. Make sure that all the responsibilities are covered and moved to the role columns. Remember, the goal of doing this activity is to find the most complete picture of team roles and responsibilities.
