Saint Patrick's Day Retrospective Retrospective
What is this activity?
Saint Patrick's Day is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The story of St. Patrick's Day begins with the legend of the man himself—an actual person who lived more than 1,000 years ago. Patrick had a vision of himself visiting Ireland and bringing Christianity to the people there. The story goes that he traveled throughout Ireland, using a shamrock (or a three-leaf clover) to explain the Holy Trinity: Each of the clover's leaves represented the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Now that you know a bit about Saint Patrick's Day. Let's celebrate this day and reflect with our Team by using this "Saint Patrick's Day Retrospective" template. There's no limit on the size of the group that can participate in this exercise. We consider this exercise level easy to execute. And you'll need a virtual board tool like EasyRetro to run the session.

How to conduct this activity
With the Saint Patrick's Day Retrospective Template, you and your team can reflect on: ☘️ The Trinity and the Shamrock: The first legend of Saint Patrick says he used a shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish back in the 5th century. Let’s use that analogy to discuss three fundamental areas that need to be considered by high-performing teams, Technology, Processes, and People. - What technologies are we using that help us achieve our goals? - What processes helped us to be more efficient on this project? - Take a moment to give a shout-out to any of your colleagues that did remarkable things during the last iteration. ☘️ Banishing all the Snakes: The second legend of Saint Patrick says he banished all the snakes from the island, chasing them into the sea. In this column, participants should focus on all the things that are affecting team performance and should be “banished into the sea.” - Is there any process that we need to change? - What should we avoid so that we can improve our performance? ☘️ The Walking Stick grows into a Tree: The third legend of Saint Patrick says he thrust his walking stick into the ground wherever he was evangelizing, and at the place now known as Aspatria (ash of Patrick), the message of the dogma took so long to get through to the people there that the stick had taken root by the time he was ready to move on. You will use this last section to capture actions that will help the team take root and grow. - How can we improve our tools and processes? - What actions will we take moving forward? Note: You can end the meeting by making sure each action has an owner. And if you can, why not go to a pub to grab a traditional Irish beverage? 🍻 This Template was inspired by "A Saint Patrick's Day Inspired Retrospective." Created by Retrolog.io
